Large Vehicle Bomb Countermeasure System
The Large Vehicle Bomb Countermeasure System (LVBCM) is a system designed for bomb technicians to deploy quickly against an unknown vehicle containing a large quantity of explosives. The purpose of the system is to provide a pre-staged rapid response capability for state, local and federal law enforcement and fire departments to be able to access and defeat in the shortest time possible a large truck like bomb containing explosives. The system was designed with the following objectives:
A. Operational Readiness: 1. Readily deployable - with a minimum response time of 30
minutes or less
2. Instant enabling features
3. User friendly
4. Minimum maintenance - long shelf life.
5. Compatible with most robots
6. Electric Hitch Release System sold separate
B. Safe:
1. Self-contained initiation system that is locked-out, sealed and separated until deployed.
2. Totally non-electric initiation system immune to RF energy and stray currents.
3. Utilizes insensitive secondary military
front line explosives.
4. Uses conventional commercially available explosives.
C. Damage Potential:
1. Target assessment positive, minimum damage (two 4-inch diameter holes) to target
vehicle if target vehicle is not an actual bomb.
2. Low overpressure (less than 3 psi reflected air blast pressure @ 100 ft.)
3. Minimum fragments generated from the LVBCM system itself and all are soft with very
limited range.
